This book of essays by leading academics in this field introduces and analyses some of the more significant German writing of the period 1918-1933. Coverage includes discussion of single outstanding works and movements, as well as of individual authors. Internationally renowned writers are placed within their Weimar context, and others whose reputations have been obscurred by the upheavals of the 1930s and '40s are given recognition.
