My love for this book is so strong for many reasons. First, the characters in the story make me as a reader very happy. Dumbo is a baby elephant who has oddly large ears. No one accepts him, until he shows that he can fly. The way Dumbo grows throughout the story is exciting to read. To see him find his on way and embrace who he was, encouraged me to read on. Knowing that the story was fantasy fiction also made my love for this book grow stronger. For instance, in the book it states, "Dumbo sailed through the sky." That making my second reason being the genre of the story. The fact that the book is about a elephant that can fly, intrigues me. The way the author takes that concept, and makes it believable and loved by adults, is even more inspiring. My final reason for loving this book is the illustrations. Dumbo is portrayed as a cute little elephant that makes the reader fall in love with him. Also, the illustrations take up the whole page and seem to want to expand off the page. As a reader, you wish to see more. In the end, I believe that the main idea behind this story is to never let people steal your shine. The circus producers hid Dumbos ears, but his ears make up a lot of who Dumbo is. He is a flying elephant who is cheerful and happy. The whole world should be able to see him. ( )
