If you like fairy tales this is a good book to read. This is the retelling of Rumpelstiltskin, done in a very clever and creative way. After reading two excellent YA books by Schmidt, I am on a quest to read all of his writings. His images are crisp, the writing is good and he has the ability to allow the reader to feel the emotions of the characters. In this version, Rumpelstiltskin is not the ogre or creepy little guy who poses a riddle for his own gain, but rather, he has a unselfish reason to want the child. Gary Schmidt depicts medieval life and political intrigue in a fascinating portrayal of "what if." What if the straw is spun into gold but the Miller's daughter cannot discover his name. What if Rumelstiltskin gets to keep the baby. This is a quick, breezy read and while it is not in depth, it is delightful and I recommend it. sem resenhas | adicionar uma resenha
