This book should be used for grades 3-5. This beginner chapter book follows Polly Diamond and her use of her magic notebook to prepare for the school fair. The thing about her magic notebook is that everything she writes comes true and this may be more than she bargained for when her requests are more literal than she intends. There isn't really a specific way this could be used to teach anything, but it does touch on imagination and could potentially give a lesson about taking repsonsibility for your actions. ( )

This is a great book for intermediate or upper primary readers, and the illustrations help the book be an engaging read for the students. There are also a lot of literacy terms included in the book which make it informative for the students who are reading the book, while also having fun following the story. ( )

This book is about a girl who loves writing and enjoys using literacy devices. Throughout the book, she teaches us multiple ways to write and such. I think it's a good book for the early reader because it can help them get a clue on writing skills and such. ( )

This book would be a good fit for advanced primary reader or intermediate readers. Polly Diamond is a highly imaginative little girl who loves spelling and reading. Polly loves to write down new words and phrases in her "spell" book. Things go terribly wrong however when at the school fair she writes down some new phrases and her "spell" book interprets them the wrong way and starts casting magical spells on her entire school. This book would be a great early reader text but may be difficult to follow along with for struggling readers. It is a great source of vocabulary and descriptive terms. ( )
