This is one of my favorite poetry books for children. The main idea of this book is to provide children with poems of events that typically occur in childhood. There were so many wonderful things about this book. First, I really loved how they used the space. The poems were big and spread out making them easier to read. Even though the poems were not that long they still took up a whole page. I also really liked the pictures. The author included actual photographs of children doing the events in the different poems. For example one picture was a photograph of 2 children dressed as pirates. Lastly, I loved how creative the poems were. Instead of just having them all in normal format some went vertical, others you had to rotate the book, and some went across both pages in a wavy format. This made each poem unique and interesting to read. It also helped the reader to stay engaged. ( )

I liked this book for a few reasons. First, I liked that the poems were about everyday occurrences that all children can relate to and enjoy. For example, there were poems that described rainy days, the beach, and even daily tasks. Some of the poems were in list form and explained daily tasks in a cute way that appeals to children. I also loved that the illustrations in the book were actual photographs. This made the book pop and pulled the reader in even more by expressing emotions through photographs, I am in between liking and disliking the fact that the poems did not exactly rhyme. I loved that they got the messages across very clearly but I did not like that there was no rhythm while reading the poems. Overall, this book is a great explanation of things that happen in our lives. ( )

This would be a good book for K-2. This book has a lot of poetry in it which is good for children. It also has a lot of detail which I think would be good for a classroom that has blind students. ( )
