This short Christmas story epitomizes the saying that it is indeed better to give than to receive. Five girls at a boarding house decide to surprise their unhappy and stern landlady with some small but thoughtful Christmas gifts. This so touches their landlady that she break down in tears. The girls decide that they will try to keep this practice all the year, showing kindnesses to others, especially to their now friendly landlady.
