Cora Bellamy is a woman who thrives on organization. She's successfully run her own dog training business for years, perfectly content with her beloved rescue pitbull as the main man in her life. She's given everything to her business, and her lack of social life (or slobber-free clothes) has been completely worth it. But all that changes when she meets Charlie Gill, the hottest client she's ever had. The only problem? Charlie's taken. Luckily, Cora has a new friend-the sweet, lovably geeky Eli Crawford. More loyal than a retriever, he's always there to help Cora with her problems, including her love life. That's why she's shocked to realize that even as things start heating up with Charlie, there might just be a more-than-friends spark between her and Eli, too. As Cora's life gets more tangled up than a dogwalker's leashes-and as she prepares to audition for a dog-training TV show that may irrevocably change her entire life-she has to figure things out before it all goes straight to the dogs. Charming, witty, and warm-hearted, Life on the Leash inspires you to cheer for every underdog looking for love.… (mais)

I liked the dogs (yay pitties!), and the pro-positive training emphasis... The romance didn't cut it for me though. ( )

This was a really enjoyable read!
Dog trainer, Cora Bellamy is the queen of organisation. She's run her her own business successfully for years & is perfectly happy with her dog, Cooper, being the main man in her life. But this all changes when she meets her newest client, Charlie. The only problem is he's already taken. Luckily she has a new friend, Eli, to step in & help. So she is shocked when she realises she's falling for Eli......
This is a really easy read, I finished it in four days! I loved the dog antics & the training tips as well as the rescue escapades.
I was a bit disappointed in some respects though. Some bits of it were really predictable as well as the middle & the ending read like any number of typical 00's rom coms.
An overall enjoyable read as long as you don't expect too much from it.

First novel by American dog trainer and non-fiction author, Victoria Schade. Cora Bellamy runs her own dog training business and her main squeeze since her last relationship broke up is Fritz, her rescue pit bull. Her style of training dogs is positive, not like Doggy Dictator, Boris Ershovich, who promotes forced submission and punishment on his television show. Cora has the opportunity to audition for a different style of show, one that follows her training methods. She is currently distracted by one of her clients, who has a girlfriend, but who she can’t stop thinking about. Then there is her new mate, geeky Eli Crawford, who even takes on one of her client’s dogs after the client has a mental meltdown. That the author has extensive experience with dog behaviour and training is very apparent throughout the book. A fabulous book for dog lovers. ( )

Every once in a while we need to read light positive words. I adore dogs...yes, more than people, so this was a hit for me. What I wouldn't do to be the main character in this book. If you love authors like Mary Kay Andrews or Jennifer Crusie then I think you will love sliding this author on the shelf beside them. ( )

I liked this book. It had charm and wit. Although, the wit was just middle of the road for me. I wanted more wise, cracking humor. Humor that would have me laughing out loud. It did not happen this way for me. Still, this book is still an enjoyable read.

Cora is sweet. She is definitely a dog person. You can tell a animal lover. They have a sweet personality and instantly connect with animals faster then they do with people. That is why it was kind of awkward in the beginning with Charlie. However, Charlie was kind and helped to put Cora at ease. Then there is Eli. He may have started out in the "friend zone" but he showed that he could be considered as a potential love match.

Again, there were times when I could take or leave this book. Yet, there was some good things about this book that does excite me to want to read another book by this author. ( )

Jumping up on people is rewarding for dogs . . . it feels good to vent some of that energy and make contact with us. You’re going to have to work hard at this one, and give it plenty of time to sink in.
