THE BERENSTAIN BEARS LEARN TO SHARE is an early readers book. Sister Bear always wanted to do everything herself. She never wanted to share with anyone else. Soon she realized that only playing by herself got to be very boring and she didn't have any friends. This is a book that will allow children to interact with the book as you read. By looking at the pictures the children can see the bear running, skipping, jumping, and climbing. When the teacher points to the running the students say "I run", "I skip", "I jump", "I climb." From my perspective, this story is about how sharing will help children make friends, they will have more fun when they share with their peers. Sharing shows kindness to each other and sharing can be fun. This author made the book have a life lesson along with it, If you share with others they will share with you. The illustrations are good! Stan and Jan Berenstain does a great job showing expression on the Bears face and it also shows motion of the bears. There is a lot of detail in the illustrations and many bright colors. I also liked how the author had pictures of the Bears sharing without having any words by the illustration. Just by the picture you could see that they were sharing with one another. When reading this story to students a teacher could ask the students at the end of the book why is sharing important? What happens when you share with people around you? The teacher could also include a short lesson on the positive and negatives of sharing. ( )

I liked this book for many reasons. First, I liked the style in which the book was written. The book was written entirely to rhyme with lots of concepts about sharing. The words also directly correlated with the many colorful pictures. For example, many pages had multiple pictures on each page. Thus, I liked that words directly next to the illustration allows for readers to associate pictures with meaning. “I take each turn on my red truck,” shows Sister Bear sitting on her red truck directly beneath the text. Additionally, the pictures were clear and definitely universal in many cultures. For example, Brother Bear and Sister Bear were shown playing checkers together, which obviously demonstrates playing together, without even having to read the text. The main idea is that it is important to share with your friends and family. That when you share with others, others will share with you. I believe this book did a good job demonstrating this through the rhyming language and colorful, detailed illustrations. ( )

One is fun, but it is true that many games are best with two! If you share, it's also true your fellow bear will share with you.
