I still need to review Status Update but I’m going to review this follow-up book first. The cover gives away what this story is about. We learn in the first book that what Noah really wants, is a family but he believed he’d never have one because he was gay. That is until Adrian came along and changed Noah’s world.
This book is the culmination of Noah and Adrian’s HEA, so it has to be read after book one. The event takes place about two years after they got married, and it all takes place in one day. It’s about the birth of their daughter through IVF, with Adrian’s sister being the egg donor and surrogate mother. The story covers the emotional whirlwind that both men, and Adrian’s sister, goes through before, during, and after the birth.
This wasn’t a bad story, but it was too short. I expected more of a build up of how they got to that point, like building their life together, agreeing that Adrian’s sister would be the donor and surrogate, and whether or not she would do it again. She seemed pretty torn up about handing the child over, but in the first book she said she wanted to have more babies because she was happy being pregnant. I’m wondering if she’ll do it again.
Overall, this was a superfast story to read, it was way to short and I don’t feel like there was enough of a time span that was covered from the past, and including the future. It covered only a few hours. I give New Status Needed, 3 Stars
