( ) This is a hilarious children's book told by a squirrel named Taco. It starts with a few facts about squirrels. Taco is fine, until the author tells us what squirrels eat. At this point Taco speaks directly to the reader, explaining that he does not like nuts and tree bark, his favorite food is tacos! As the facts continue, Taco intervenes more and more actually changing the story to what he wants it to say. This is a great book for young readers and writers as well as being used for a mentor text when teaching about voice. The illustrations are funny and add to the story showing his emotions, especially when there is a hawk around. A great book for schools, classroom, and family libraries. The publisher generously provided me with a copy of this book via Netgalley. A squirrel decides to retell the story of himself the way that he wants to write about it! He says that he does not climb up trees and eat nuts. He actually likes tacos! He loves tacos so much that his name is even taco. I think under all of the silly themes, the theme of this story is super important for children to understand. At the end of the day--we determine our own stories and we can change them as we please! The squirrel decides to make a story for himself and I think that is important for children to know. The idea of a squirrel liking tacos is super cute too. I review children's books with an eye toward buying gifts for the kids in my family. This book is one I'm going to buy. Taco the Squirrel stars in a book that teaches kids about squirrels. But Taco doesn't particularly want predators in his book, he wants tacos, so he rewrites the book to get what he wants. #ThisIsATaco! #NetGalley sem resenhas | adicionar uma resenha
