A very good book with a different twist the the classic story you hear of Noahs ark. This story goes into deeper details and maybe some things Noah may have had to deal with on the ark and it starts with the devil in the form of a mouse chewing the wood so that water can flood the ark. When Noah throws a glove at the mouse to stop it it turns into a cat that grabs the mouse with its mouth. Noah did not tolerate fighting on the ark so much to the cats surprise he threw both the mouse and cat overboard but the cat found its way back. ( )

This is the Romanian legend of Noah and the ark. When Noah was inviting two of each animal on the ark, the devil in the form of a mouse came on the ark. The mouse began eating the wood on the ark to make a hole in the ark and drown Noah. The mouse succeeded and was thrown overboard. Noah needed a way to plug the hole, and the snake’s tail was placed in the hole to plug it. This is why snakes do not have tails anymore. In return, Noah told the snake that he could eat a human each day. When Noah got off the ark, the snake wanted a human to eat. Because there were so few humans, Noah threw the snake into a fire so he wouldn’t have to give the snake a human. To make Noah keep his promise, God turned the snake’s ashes into fleas. According to this legend, the fleas of the world suck enough blood to equal one human every day to keep Noah’s promise to the snake.
I had never heard a legend like this before, so I found it very interesting. I like that God made Noah keep his promise to the snake. I think keeping promises is a good message to send to students. ( )

This picture book is based off of the Romanian folklore of Noah's Ark and the flood. Pretty much like the ordinary story of Noah's Ark and the flood except in this book, the cat and snake help save the day. The focus is on Noah building an ark to save his family and some animal from the flood that God release from his wrath. The breaking of a promise and the existence for evil to exist in the world is established as one of theme in this book. The style of this book for the most part is narrative with expressive voices with emphasis of the word choices especially the interaction of the characters. All in all, great entertaining book on the Romanian folklore version of Noah's Ark and the flood. ( )

Well this legend from Romania deals with several things, not just the flood and Noah. It gives an explanation of why cats hate water and enjoy basking in the sun. It also tries to explain why evil continued even after the flood and why it is important to keep promises. It was a different version of the story I know. Very bright and beautiful illustrations, I'm guessing representing the Romanian culture. ( )

This book is a branch off of the story Noah's Ark, but it is about the relationship with Noah and the snake(the Devil). It is a very interesting book with nice Romanian pictures. This is a great read, but I guess I would wonder about reading it with children, because I wouldn't want children to think this is the real Noah's Ark story. ( )
