Tanya is the fundamental work of Chabad Chasidus. Lubavitcher Rebbe has written that The Tanya is a collection of advice, given in answer to the queries of Chasidim in private audiences in the years 5540-5550. In the summer of 5552 the Alter Rebbe began to arrange the Tanya in the form now before us.Tanya has three names: Tanya, after its first word; Likkutei Amarim, Collected Sayings after its sources, the teachers of the Alter Rebbe and the printed works of earlier eras; and Sefer Shel Benonim, Book of the Intermediate Persons, after its content: the spiritual of "intermediate", complete and joyous fulfillment of the Torah and its commandments motivated by knowledge of G-d.The Kehot edition contains the booklet of supplements compiled by the Lubavitcher Rebbe, including the daily schedule of learning, indexes, a list of Hebrew abbreviations found in Tanya, and much more.In the course of years, over four thousand editions, in various formats, have been printed in many of the nations, administrative divisions, and cities of the world. The first seven (approximately) editions appeared in the lifetime of the Alter Rebbe. Translations have appeared in English, French, Italian, Spanish, Russian etc., in addition to numerous commentaries and explanatory works.Tanya is also available on the Chabad Library CD-ROM.… (mais)
