Carregando... Love, Hate and Other Filtersde Samira Ahmed
![]() Ainda não há conversas na Discussão sobre este livro. Racism is a topic that has become very relevant these days. It doesn't matter if it is called antisemitism, Islamophobia, or homophobia. It hurts because we are all humans that our religion, sexual preference, or color of our skins shouldn't differ us. Hate will always bring more hate. The way to find a solution is by education and behave the way that you can accept everyone the way they are. In my opinion, ”Love, Hate & Other Filters” is a book that should be part of the recommended reading lists. Maya, our main character, has to leave with the culture, religion, and customs that her parents brought with them in India. On the other hand, an American born want to emancipate and leave her dreams and her life. Maya has to cope with the conflict between should and want and looking for a to bridge these worlds. It felt like they couldn't decide what kind of book it should be - a typical romcom or a contemporary that deals with different cultures and racism. The first 130 pages were a drag to get through, the second half I really enjoyed. As with last February's "The Hate U Give," I'm calling out "Love, Hate and Other Filters" now as 2018's most important YA novel. Samira Ahmed is a breath of fresh air and a clarion call. I'm eager to see what she does next. - Katie Ward Beim-Esche I loved this book. It mirrored a lot of my experiences growing up Indian American and wish I could give it to my teen self. sem resenhas | adicionar uma resenha
