Although I really liked it a lot, it was not as good as her last 2 before this one.
That said, it was still pretty awesome. ( )

The Story:

I love Ms Sands writing. Always a fun and funny tale with a side of smex. This story is no exception. A rich backstory for an Argeneau cousin and her life mate that was willing to wait for her. They both had some things to overcome but I think they did so well.

The Random Thoughts:

-I think Beth should totally make her Immortal dating app.
-Kudos to the narrator for flawlessly executing all of the accents.

Beth Argenis, adopted into the Argenis family, is now a rogue hunter when the life mate she has unknowingly had for over 100 years, Laird Cullen “Scotty” MacDonald shows up again and she is suddenly in danger constantly.

This book takes after pretty much every other book in the series does. Some random extension of the Argeneau line we have never heard of before finds a life mate, the have lots of sex, dangerous things happen, and they ride off into the sunset to have their happily ever after. This one just happened to be an immortal already, and Beth was adopted in.

Beth had one hell of a life before becoming a vampire, which the Sands felt the need to spend several dozen pages on in the middle of the book. She also apparently hasn't had much of a life after becoming an immortal because Sands didn't feel as much of a need to say much of anything about that. Scotty is old and lived a life and the author really didn't feel the need to say anything about all of that, only the handful of years he felt relevant to getting Beth on his side for another dozen or two pages. Seriously, I read like an hour worth of back to back history on these two in the middle of the book randomly.

The romance itself is at least different from the rest of the series. These two make dumb-headed decisions constantly, which isn't new at all. But, at least Scotty had the presence of mind to let Beth heal and become her own person without subsuming her with his personality after he found out. It is a very predictable romance, if you've read one Argeneau book you've read them all.

This was actually the best book in quite a few books, now that we aren't dealing with Dressler in this book. I felt connected to the character and the story in a way I haven't in at least 6 or 7 books (which is a shame because I thought I was going to love Dante and Tomasso sigh). This wasn't as quick a read as others because of the heavy use of Scottish brogue and the overuse of the word ken.

I'll continue to read Argeneau books probably until it ends. They're light reads, and I always know how it is going to end - with a happily ever after. There may be danger throughout, there may be drama within, but always they end up together and happy. ( )

Listened to audio narrated by Michael Rahhal. The rogue hunters are short staffed, so Scotty, leader of the UK Hunters comes to Canada to help out. Scotty has put off claiming his lifemate for over a century but when he sees her again the pull is hard to resist. Beth has believed Scotty hated her and was disgusted by her from their first meeting. Scotty has issues and thank god Beth is unwilling to let his hangups mess her up. While they are dealing with all of that angst, someone is trying to kill Beth. This was just an okay read for me, I did enjoy all the accents narrated. Some fun moments and some annoying ones.
