Compared to the first book, this was a torturously bad read. I am left feeling like this was an analogy for losing a loved one to addiction and the author was processing some stuff. ( )

4/5 - definitely not as awesome as book 1 but still just as good, there was a few lulls in action therefore that's why it got a 4/5 - i remember book 1 being non-stop action for me and I missed that in this book. Not to say there was not a lot of action - it was a LOT of action, but there was a few chapters of things that were, like I've read, very politically inclined - it is kind of the whole point of the book though so alas can I truly be mad at it??

there was quite a whirlwind of characters too - not new/special ones but ... I love this one, no I HATE them, oh I LOVE them again, no WAIT I hate them.. I mean, can you play with my emotions anymore?!?! Oh my gosh that was a lot! A wringer, a long one, but a good one.

The ending - as always in a series, makes me just scream for more, and now I have to wait an age for the next book, my life is over *cries* ( )

This book took off like a wild eagle in flight. From chapter two, the action, the death, the deception is in full force. If you liked the Diabolic, you’ll love Nemesis in The Empress. ( )

This is a brilliant follow-up to the Diabolic, which I really enjoyed, but which left me with some questions about the believability of the world and conflict that served as its backdrop. All of the concerns I had in the previous book were addressed in this one in really satisfying ways. I can't say I was delighted with the direction all the characters took in this one, but that was part of what made it so good. I assume there will be a third. I hope there will, because the end leaves some unfinished business that I like to see drawn to a conclusion, even though I recognize it may not go the way I hope. ( )

Tyrus and Nemesis take on the universe!

After the events of The Diabolic, Tyrus and Nemesis aren't the most popular right now. Tyrus becomes Emperor but the Grandiloquy doesn't want Nemesis as their Empress. So what else can they do but to seek out the one person who can make the acceptance happen - The Holy Interdict!

Ohhhhh boy. This was such a boring book. I LOVED The Diabolic and Nemesis but in this one, she just spent half the book being selfish and short sighted. I still don't care for Tyrus and my suspicions from book 1 were confirmed! Ha. But oh man, this just didn't do it for me.

It literally was dragging until almost page 100 when it finally got interesting. Then it was boring again until about 75% of the way through. The ending was pretty intense and set up for the third (when do we get it :( !!!!) but I don't think I will continue the series any time soon. ( )
