The Judgmental Flower is about a flower patch where only the same colored flowers hangout. Purples with purples and blues with blues. Until one day, Purple moves into the Blue patch and this makes Blue weary about this change. Blue's Mom explains that even though Blue and Purple may look different, they are also very similar if he gives him a chance. I think this book is a great way to introduce race, to a young audience, in a harmless way. Learning to value other's differences and accepting them for who they are and not what they look like is a great lesson to be learned. I would read this to my class and then have them create a garden of positive affirmations for their classmates. ( ) This picture book is about a young blue flower not liking another flower because it is purple. The blue flower's mother explains how that is a bad way to be and shows him that all flowers are different but have lots of things the same also. I think this book would be good for younger students who need explicit explanations about how to behave. sem resenhas | adicionar uma resenha
When a Purple flower suddenly sprouts next to a Blue, all sorts of confusion ensues. Fortunately, Momma Blue is there to remind everyone about the beauty of diversity, including how the wind, rain, sun and bees treat all flowers the same regardless of the color of their petals or the size of their stems. Award-winning author Julia Cook shares a timely and valuable lesson about appreciating differences and embracing diversity in life and in friendships.--Publisher.
