But there is something off and I can't put my finger on it. Perhaps it is the writing, it was very staccato, with choppy and disjointed sentences—maybe this was done on purpose to move the story along at a more rapid pace to lay the groundwork. REVIEW: Generation One is the first in a series of books spun-off from The Lorien Legacies. It follows the human Garde as they train to make sense of their powers after the war with the Mogadorians.
While I enjoyed this book and will definitely read the next ones, I didn’t find this series to be quite as engaging as The Lorien Legacies. I did appreciate that the characters were more diverse, and it was interesting seeing the new legacies that they’ve discovered. I also liked the school atmosphere. But it just seemed to be lacking some of the spirit of the Lorien Legacies. Maybe the series will get better on the second book, and I’m definitely not giving up on it.
Although there were some short cameos by characters from the original series, I wish there’d been more, to kind of tie the two series together more. I’ve heard that there are more of them in future books, so here’s hoping. 🙂
I would recommend this book to fans of The Lorien Legacies and YA science fiction/fantasy. (
