As her wedding day approaches, she prepares to face her harsh, judgmental older sister and their self-absorbed mother. It is the first time they have been together in more than two decades. Claire Sullivan and Meghann Dontess are half-sisters who went their own way when Claire was 9 and Meghann several years older. Since then they have been wary of each other. Claire has a daughter and is a single mother. She lives in Hayden, Washington, and helps her father run a small resort. Meghann is a well-respected divorce lawyer who is 42 years old and extremely lonely. She sees a psychiatrist, Harriet Bloom, but refuses to talk about what is really causing her loneliness.. On a getaway with her girlfriends, the Bluesons, Claire meets and falls in love with Bobby Austin, a country songwriter/singer. An incident with a client's husband and Claire impending marriage get the sisters together again, then tragedy strikes. ( )

Fairly predictable "chick lit." ( )

'Between Sisters' is my second Kristin Hannah book, and I love her writing. Kristin Hannah knows to write different genres; she also knows how to write sisterhood relationship biological and friendship.
'Between Sisters,' as the author wrote in her note for the readers, "is a novel about women in conflict and crisis learning to face modern hardships by relying on themselves, their friends, and their families."
It’s an emotional story of two sisters finding their way back to one another after being estranged. I laughed, I cried, I felt.
I listened to while reading my physical copy; the narrator, Laural Merlington, is doing beautiful work with the voices for the male and the female character and the accents accordingly.
The settings are so simple and inviting; the characters are flawed in such ways that make them feel real to the reader. The characters have flaws, but the flaws are created to make you feel sympathy for or appreciation of the character, not in a way that would make you hate the character for being so incredibly obnoxious.
I know that I will continue reading Kristin Hannah's book backlist and new. ( )

Between Sisters by Kristin Hannah
Love this author's works and although longer than others they contain so much.
This story starts out with acknowledges then the story begins.
Family camp that the dad still runs with help from his daughter, Claire.
Story follows Joe is a worker that picks fruit at the vineyards along with immigrants where he becomes gets hot and wants to move on, nightmares still scare him. He was once married to Diane and he just wants to move on, low profile.
Love the location of WA, so many of the destinations mentioned we have visited.
Like hearing of the other locations, new places to me, so well described.
Claire and her daughter Allison are working at the camp and she plans to go with high school friends for their annual vacation. She only sees herself as a failure when she talks to her sister.
Her sister from a different father, Meg is very accomplished lawyer and can't be bothered with the camp. She has many sexual partners to fill the void along with a lot of pills from her doctor to help get through the night.
Chapters go back in time to events that occurred so you can understand why things are done they way they are 10 years later.
After Claire gets married it's determined she has a brain tumor and she wants to keep it away from her spouse who's off recording songs in TN.
Meg is there for her whenever she needs her, researching the cures. Joe has some knowledge but it's in his past and it could be he can't go there....
I received this book from National Library Service for my BARD (Braille Audio Reading Device). ( )

I should know better than to read a Kristin Hannah book at work. I was a crying mess as I was sitting in the office at lunch! Another amazing read from this author. This did have a slower start for me than her other books, but once it picked up it never let go. Expect an emotional rode with this one and get the tissues ready. ( )
