The Truth and Lies Duet finds completion in Throne of Truth, giving readers all the answers about Elle, Penn, Nameless, and then some. Taking place immediately where Crown of Lies left off, readers are treated to the dark writing Pepper is so good at as Elle finds herself in a bad situation with Greg, a man we all expected better from. He's a mad man with a desire for Elle that outweighs all common sense, but Penn will stop at nothing to save the woman he cares for, even if she can never care for him again. His heroic rescue gives him a shot at another chance with Elle, but things can never be easy when it comes to Penn Everett's life. "Lies...They live a life of their own. They multiply, divide, and conquer - not just the listener but the liar, too. They infiltrate the truth. They twist words until false is truer than reality." I loved the direction that Throne of Truth took, providing all the answers and detailed glimpses into the past of Penn and who Nameless really was and is now. Elle has so much character development in this novel, the abduction only making her stronger and more determined. Penn, on the other hand, becomes a character hard to connect with as he deals with his past and what could be the demise of life as he knows it. The two cannot find a perfect way to make their relationship work, especially as others meddle and the media takes the story to the front pages. There's so much angst and conflict through out this entire novel, it really made it fascinating all the facets of life effected by the abduction. It also made the pacing of the novel seem a lot slower, as each event that separates Penn and Elle takes so much time to work through. Ultimately, it all works out how it is supposed to and readers are granted the happy ending they so desired for the hard working, beautiful heiress and the handsome man with a heart of gold. "Piece by piece, I revealed the man I'd always known existed." Throne of Truth twisted in ways I never expected, the story so uniquely its own. The characters were excellent, the story gripping, and the entire duet is one I see myself reading again. Pepper Winters never fails to write something I fall in love with and this duet is no different. While less dark than others, this suspenseful story comes to life with Pepper's detailed writing and fascinating style of romance. sem resenhas | adicionar uma resenha

The thrilling follow-up to Crown of Lies from New York Times bestselling author Pepper Winters TWO YEARS Since my life changed for the second time and not necessarily for the better. Two years since I traded prison bars for streets and hunted a runaway who I'd met in an alley. TWO DAYS Since I forgot how to lie, woke to fists, and chased after the girl who'd been stolen from me. TWO HOURS To save her, rescue her, keep my lies intact. She looks at me full of hate. I look at her full of confession. TWO MINUTES For our relationship to switch from mutual dislike to floundering with unknowns. I've hurt her. Now, she's hurt me. I guess we're even. TWO SECONDS For her to listen, to see, to finally know who I am. The answer comes with hardship. The answer isn't what she wants to hear. TWO BREATHS For me to walk out the door. TWO HEARTBEATS For it all to be over. Não foram encontradas descrições de bibliotecas. |
