This was just right for me. I'm not a huge true crime reader, but I'm often intrigued by headlines. I'm not really ready for a full length book on a crime, but wish I knew more. This collection hit on some of the crimes I had always been curious about. Each story gave some background as well as details of the crime and how it was solved. I appreciated the follow up of what happened years later. I would recommend this to anyone who is feeling culturally illiterate about some of these big name crimes. Also it is a good overview for true crime readers to find which crimes they would like to delve into more deeply. David White did an excellent job as narrator and the musical interludes were helpful to indicate a good place to take a break. This review was written for LibraryThing Member Giveaways. This is an audiobook. Read well. Real crime stories are always fascinating. Jack Rosewood takes 12 real crime stories and explains in some cases their place in history that changed the way we now do things. Some stories are well known (like Laci Peterson and Robert Blake) but he manages to find new info on each one. Some are not so well known cold cases that became solvable with the new investigative methods in use today. This review was written for LibraryThing Member Giveaways. True Crime Stories Volume 5 by Jack Rosewood was an interesting read. As a fan of true crime stories and the plethora of forensic shows on television, I thought I had heard just about every murder case. I was wrong. Rosewood shares 12 "shocking true crime murder cases", some of which are well known, such as the Scott Peterson and Menendez Brothers cases, but others, such as the Victor Licata case and that of Eva Dugan, were new to me and quite fascinating.Written in a direct and to-the-point manner, this book will appeal those interested in true crime and forensics. There are even cold cases and changes in policy and procedure discussed. This isn't my first Jack Rosewood book, and it won't be my last. His books are quick and interesting reads, and I have learned something each time I've read one of his works. I received a free copy in exchange for an honest review. This review was written for LibraryThing Member Giveaways. This was a well written and well narrated anthology. I thought it would take me several days to finish as these stories are often so grizzly but this version was well put together. It mixed a great deal of details and case information. the transition music is just as scary as the stories. It's kind of scary that these type of anthologies are of so much interest but when you have stories like this that are well written and well narrated you can't help but be captivated. sem resenhas | adicionar uma resenha

Open the pages of this true crime anthology and learn about twelve of the most shocking true crime cases in modern history. You will be glued to the pages as you read about high profile true crime murder cases, such as the murder of Laci Peterson, and the murder trial of actor Robert Blake, while learning about some lesser known yet equally notorious murder trials. You will follow criminal investigations into cold murder cases that were once thought to be unsolvable, but through a combination of scientific advances, good police work, and some luck, homicide detectives were able to give the victims' families closure. Although most of the cases profiled in this book are clearly true crime stories, one case, the story of the famous doctor Jack Kevorkian, concerns changing legal interpretations of what constitutes murder in the United States of America. Other cases profiled involve privileged individuals who had plenty of money, but resorted to murder out of greed and selfishness. You will also read about one privileged woman, actress Dominque Dunne, who had her whole life in front of her, only to have it ended by a jealous lover who could not handle her success and privilege. Open the cover of this book, if you dare, and learn about some of the most intriguing high profile crimes and true murder to happen in the last 100 years. You may want to share this book with a friend, though, because as intriguing as the following cases are, they are also shocking and disturbing. Não foram encontradas descrições de bibliotecas. |
