Kind cool in that it's one of the first books I've read with a severely autistic and non verbal child in it. Pretty cool. ( ) This story is about a dog (Chester) who failed his test as a service dog . He is matched with a boy (Gus) with nonverbal autism. The goal is to have the young boy open up and interact with more of the kids in his classmates. Gus deals with a class bully, because of his autism. Soon, Chester and Gus bound. Gus opens up to his classmates and no longer feels excluded. I would use this book as a read aloud to discuss autism as well as bullying and how much it can hurt someone. Chester is a smart and sensitive dog who is looking for his Person. More than anything he wants to be a service dog, but he is afraid of loud noises and got scared during his service dog test and didn't pass. Eventually Chester is adopted by a family with a boy who doesn't seem to like dogs. Little by little, Chester learns how to communicate with Gus, who is on the autism spectrum, even though Gus doesn't talk. This is a really sweet story for animal lovers everywhere. This was a delightful children's story of Chester the wanna-be service dog, and his owner, a ten-year-old boy who has autism, named Gus. The story is written by Chester the dog and I thoroughly loved the way the author wrote this story. I felt like Chester was really thinking the things written about him and came to love the dog and kept cheering him on. At the same time I got to see a little of what goes on inside a child with autism, and was so glad Gus had a friend like Chester. It was a very heartwarming story, even for an adult. sem resenhas | adicionar uma resenha
