Ian's alpha tosses him out of his car at a training camp for worthless and weak wolf shifters run by a crazy vampire. His only choice is to escape and go lone wolf.Until he runs into Clare...She actually volunteered for this gig. Her wolf is all alpha but it's crammed into a petite package, and she definitely has no mercy when it comes to him.The work is hard. The training dangerous. Surviving is optional. Clare can't stand Ian's disregard for her authority and he hates her driven ambition. Sparks fly and teeth are bared. Opposites attract they say.If they don't kill each other first. There are some editing errors in this book. Not many, but enough that I noticed them.
It is a really fun read. I enjoyed the story line and all the characters. Two of my favorites are Pallas and Blain.
The main characters are Clare and Ian. Clare is a born female wolf shifter. A female alpha about 20 to 22 years old. She has volunteered to be a part of the experiment for the Vanguard Elite. She is actually a bit too overconfident in her abilities. Ian is 22 and a turned wolf shifter, looking for a place to belong. He is a dominant, but he has a lot of self-doubt. He has been with his pack for a year when he suddenly finds himself literally thrown into the experiment by his alpha.
The whole story, even with the editing errors, flowed smoothly and quickly. The chemistry between Clare and Ian is instant. The interplay between them was often amusing and sometimes steamy. Their experiences at the boot-camp evolves them into the leaders they were both meant to be.
Entertaining, amusing and a great start to the 'Vanguard Elite' series. A definite keeper! ( )
