One-Room School is a historical nofiction book that tells of the one-room schoolhouses from around the country. Pictures are included of schoolhouses that have been refurbished and are still standing today. Other pictures are of the schoolhouses when they were still in use. Information is given about what was expected of the students and teachers from that time period and the curriculum that was taught is also discussed. This was a very enjoyable book that I think should be used in today's classrooms. Students need to know how much has changed since the days of the one-room schoolhouse. I think each student could be given a different school to research and see what information they could find on it. Then they could give reports to the class over what they found. I also think after looking at the book, students could research their own school to find out what its histroy is. sem resenhas | adicionar uma resenha

This book provided an interesting perspective of the beginning of the American school system and teacher. I found the information from this text enlightening as teachers during this area were, in my opinion, responsible for so much more than the modern teacher. This book expresses first hand experiences of attending these schools, in which the reader is able to learn how student walked miles to school in all sorts of weather. ( )
