Set in Norway in the mid-nineteenth century, Dina's Book presents a beautiful, eccentric, and tempestuous heroine who carries a terrible burden: at the age of five she accidentally caused her mother's death. Blamed by her father and banished to a farm, she grows up untamed and untaught. Zeer boeiend verhaal dat zich afspeelt in het Noorwegen van de 19e eeuw. Het beschrijft het leven van een vrouw die de verantwoordelijkheid voor de dood van haar moeder vanaf jonge leeftijd met zich meedraagt. Dit heeft een grote invloed op haar gedrag en relatie met anderen. Het boek had me meteen te 'pakken' en ik was blij dat er nog twee delen volgden: 'Het boek Benjamin' en 'Het boek Karna'.
