In 2015, UK supermarket chain Sainsburys, famed for their annual Christmas advertisements, chose the popular children's book character Mog, that plump and forgetful cat who had starred in numerous picture-book (mis)adventures since first appearing in 1970, to star in their most recent holiday promotion. To say that it was delightful would be an understatement, and I, a long-time Mog fan, was utterly charmed by its tale of disaster (not unusual in this befuddled kitty's experiences) and eventual Christmas cheer. When I discovered that there was a book to go along with the advertisement, I immediately determined to track it down, and now, these few years later, I've finally managed to do just that! As expected, it is quite charming, featuring Judith Kerr's charming artwork, and an appealing Christmas tale in which our muddled feline heroine wreaks havoc but also brings blessings. Highly recommended to all Mog fans, and to anyone looking for sweet, heartwarming picture-books for Christmas. ( )
