Sehr interessant und voller Fakten. Leider ist der Schreibstil sehr trocken, wodurch die Lektüre wenig spannend und nicht kurzweilig ist. Nichtsdestotrotz sehr informativ. ( )

I received this book for free in exchange for an honest review. I found this book to be a concise telling of the horrible tragedy that befell Port Arthur in 1996. The book provides a summarized background of Martin Bryant's life before the incident. As is typical with sociopaths, we find animal torture/murder, irrational behavior, belief that others are always at fault, dangerous outbursts, etc.. What shocked me was his ability to acquire all the weapons when he was classified as mentally retarded by Australian government. His extensive weapons collection shows the need they had for gun control at that time. The story continues with using eye witness reports from victims and those who survived. A horrible tragedy occurred that day. When you look at the history that the author presents, you see a clear pattern that leads to his level of violence that day. This is a great book of true crime, even though it is a hard book to read with the details of destruction done by Martin Bryant. ( )

I received an advanced copy of this manuscript free from the author in exchange for an honest review.
I found this narrative to make a reader feel like they are right in the middle of the action. It is as if the fear and helplessness these people were feeling is still alive today. It keeps a reader wondering why someone would want to kill so many innocent and unsuspecting people out to just enjoy their day and see the sights. I have no sympathy for Martin Bryant. He may have been slow, but that is no excuse for the mayhem that resulted in such tragic results. This book is well researched and I highly recommend it to anyone who likes the True Crime genre. ( )

I received a KINDLE copy of this book from the author through a giveaway he recently had on LibraryThing and the following is my honest opinion.

Being the person I am, especially before becoming a Book Reviewer, I would normally shy away from books of this genre. But, now, after reading a few of Mr. Jack Rosewood’s books in this series, I’m hooked and eagerly await the next installment and hope for another giveaway.

Unlike the rest of the books in this series the author has shifted his attention from the U.S. to the “Land Down Under”, Australia; and instead of writing about a serial mass murderer, he’s written about Martin Bryant. One of the most gruesome aspect of this individual is his reign of terror wasn’t spread over a prolonged period of time; the period of time had only been nearly 24 hours during which he’d killed 35 individuals, most of whom were tourists, and had wounded 23 more. And to this 28 year old psychopath it didn’t matter whether they were men, women or even children. This incident has become of one of the worst cases of mass murders in the history of Australia.

Mr. Rosewood has once again taken his readers to the frontline where he writes in a “you are there” writing style awhich includes information about the murderer’s psyche which might have caused him to commit this heinous act.

Once you read this book you might interested in this genre of True Crimes and the other books written by this author, which is why I’ve given this book 5 STARS. ( )
