Read this book to find out how it ends. How many kids can say they got to meet their hero? Overall I enjoyed The Hero Two Doors Down: Based on the True Story of Friendship between a Boy and a Baseball Legend by Sharon Robinson. I thought it was a very feel good story, but I did find myself wondering if any of my students would not “abandon it” after reading a chapter or two. I think this book requires a mature reader to really appreciate some of the topics presented - race, religion, racism, and death. I can see some boys, or girls in my class picking the book up thinking that it may be about Jackie as a baseball player, but really it is about Jackie, the human being. I do think this would be a great class read aloud. All of those topics in the book could turn into great discussions, let by the teacher. I think this book offers the opportunity for some great dialog in the classroom. sem resenhas | adicionar uma resenha
