In the book of Philippians we are told to be anxious over nothing, and yet we are anxious over everything. We worry that our students will be "behind," that they won't score well on the SAT, get into a good college, or read enough of the Great Books. Our souls are restless, anxiously wondering if something else out there might be just a little bit better -- if maybe there is another way or another curriculum that might prove to be superior to what we are doing now. God doesn't call us to this work and then turn away to tend to other, more important matters. He promises to stay with us. He assures us that if we rely on Him alone, then He will provide all that we need. What that means on a practical level is that we have to stop fretting over every little detail. We need to stop comparing. We've got to drop the self-inflated view that we are the be-all-end-all of whether the education we are offering our students is going to be as successful as we hope it is. After all, our job is not to be successful -- success itself is entirely beside the point. It's faithfulness that He wants.… (mais)

Insightful, even if you do not plan to homeschool your children. Nuggets of wisdom and ideas for how to overcome anxious teaching and educating your children. ( )

If I could give this book more than 5 stars I would. It's a fantastic reminder of how we Christian homeschoolers should approach every day - with the assurance that all we're doing is for Jesus. We're building cathedrals! Our youngest child passed away several years ago, and it's been horrendously difficult to operate the way I used to. This book spoke life into my sorrowing soul, and I feel energized to once again approach homeschooling the way I did before our boy passed away. While the pain of his loss will never disappear, I have confidence that, with Jesus' help, our homeschool can once again be full of joy and wonder. ( )

I will be reading this book every single year we choose to homeschool, as well as “Homeschool Bravely.” I may trade off and read HB one semester and this book the next. Either way, they are so incredibly encouraging and convicting. This book was so perfectly short and yet densely packed with biblical truths, like a warm cup of tea on a chill, dreary day. I needed Sarah’s wisdom and insights, and I appreciated her honesty. I joined her Read Aloud Revival program because of this book. If you’re considering homeschooling, or even if you’re struggling through the middle of a homeschool career, this book will soothe your souls and bolster your strength. There are scripture verses throughout as well. I picked this up because Tsh Oxenreider says she reads it annually. Now I see why, and I will too. I definitely recommend this book! Keep a highlighter or commonplace book handy. ( )

A beautiful, refreshing oasis for homeschooling moms. But there’s lots of wisdom in here that could apply to all of our Christian lives. Whose “well done” are you working for? Relationships are more important than rules (or curriculum or to do lists). Highly recommend. ( )

This was wonderfully encouraging to this mama that is spinning a lot of plates. Her focus was on true education. It is great to remember to focus on what is true, good, and beautiful instead of racing to meet the next goal. ( )
