I have two opinions on this book, and I teetered on which way this review should go. So I will give you both. I will start off with what I expected from this book... If you have read the entire series so far, you are most likely wondering who was writing the notes and sending the packages to Claire and Tony... This is a piece of the puzzle that was never resolved. Well, this piece is multi-layered, and you do get answers and a resolution. However, I really thought this is what the book would revolve around. I was looking forward to it. Well, this is just a tiny blip in the book. You find out the who. It's even taken care of. It really is that simple in the book. I thought for sure we would get a little more meat and potatoes on this. Maybe some twists and turns. A little bit of the shock value, maybe. And then in the end, they all live happily ever after... What I got in this book.... This is the part that is hard for me. While the book is resolving left over issues, lightly, it is also giving you a glimpse into the life after the story... Hence the name of the book. For me, being that it is Aleatha, is was too light and soft. I have come to expect more grit from her. Although, I did enjoy learning about Claire and Tony as parents. Seeing them move forward was sweet. Then introducing us to a new character along with Phil and Eric was a nice little bonus too. I will admit, since there wasn't much plot twists to keep my mind racing, the book moved slow for me. I did have a hard time staying focused. Maybe that's because I was expecting something a little different from what it actually was. Who knows. The book itself is written in true Aleatha form though. I can still hear her voice in her writing, but it's her tamer voice. Who knew she had one! haha. It flowed and allowed you to see the characters in a different light from what you have seen in the past. Some don't like the new version of the characters. I am not sure what I think of them. However, the only character that seemed to not change at all is Emily. I still can't stand her. She never did redeem herself in my eyes. There were many heart melting parts in the book. This isn't your heart-pounding wtf book; this is the awww that is so sweet and wonderful book. It really did take me by surprise. The interactions in the story are so well written, I did feel like I was in the story, as I have in the past with Aleatha's books. And now for the big finish... My rating. I still can't figure out how to rate this book. The writing is phenomenal, as always. My hang-up, obviously is the change in plot-style. I am trying really hard to look past the whole HEA throughout the entire book... With that being said, I am giving this a 3.5-4 stars. I just can't seem to give this book a solid rating. Many LOVED it. Whereas, I liked it. Many will not be disappointed in this book. They will be pleased with Claire and Tony's happily ever after. If you have read the rest of the series, you really should read this book! My love for this series gets stronger with every book. When I first heard that there would be a fifth book, I thought "Do we really need it?" The answer is: Yes. Beyond the Consequences allow us see at how things have progressed with Clare and Tony and how life can be full of happiness for them. Yes, even Tony Rawlings deserves an HEA. I will never say that another book is not needed. Do your thing, Aleatha! She cleverly left something things open to explore in the future and I'm happy to continue the journey should there be more. sem resenhas | adicionar uma resenha
