Pete the Cat's Train Trip Colorful children's book about a family of cats and they are heading to the train.Story tells you and shows you colorful pictures of everything they encounter along the way. They are going to their grandmother's house. Love hearing of all the cars Pete discovers. Book is in the category of I can read. Cute story. I choose to do Pete the Cat books, because I have read so many to my kids at work. They love Pete the Cat and they love when I read them these books. This Pete that Cat book was about Pete getting to ride on a train. Pete, his mom, and brother were going to visit grandma, to get to her they needed to get on a train. Pete loves trains, and the conductor shows Pete around the train. Pete got to see the engine, and even got to toot the horn. He had a blast on his train ride. At the end, it was said that Pete loves riding trains, but he loves his grandma more. I also really love how bright and colorful the pictures are! While reading to my kids at work, so many of them were telling me how much they love riding on trains. Some went on a train for the polar express this Christmas while others really went to see their grandma. The little girl that went to see her grandma said, " it was cheaper to ride the train than to fly. " I chose this book because the little boy I nanny for loves Pete. He especially loved this one because not only was it Pete, but Pete got to ride a train! Pete was going to visit his grandma and was very excited not only because of visiting his grandma, but he had to take a train to get there! While on the train, the conductor showed Pete around and shows him the engine and the big loud horn. Pete ends up making new friends on his train ride and has a wonderful ride. I love how easy this book was to read especially to a three year old. The pictures were bright and big and the words were nice in size as well. My kids (3 and 5) both love Pete the Cat books and this one was no exception. The added bonus of a train only made them request this one again and again. I was not surprised they liked this book, as it had their favorite things in it: Pete, trains, and a grandma. I prefer the I Can Read series of Pete the Cat books and this one seemed to have more of a narrative than the others. Pete is still a great character and the bright color scheme is always appealing to kids. Pros: Climb aboard in this story with a lovable and familiar character, trains, and a fun trip.
