The two books in the Hawk Queen are included in the Omnibus edition; Ironhand's Daughter and The Hawk Eternal which were first published in 1995. After losing the bloody battle of Colden Moor the highlanders now live in subservience to the Outlanders. It is said that one day a new leader will emerge to lead them out of subjugation. This leader will carry the blood of Ironhand who was the mightiest of all highland kings. But only one survives who carries his blood, Sigarni, the silver-haired huntress. Those who pierce the veil of time know that it is she, the "Hawk Queen", they must follow to have any chance of success. In the second book set in a parallel world, clan thief Caswallon, and Gaelen, an orphan who has had to steal in order to live, are brought together by the barbaric race invading their lands. Sigarni arrives through a gate in space and time, just as a beast from an alternate universe attacks a group of young boys. An excellent fantasy, but a list of characters would have been useful. ( )
