This audiobook is a full-cast recording of a theatrical performance of the play "Between Riverside and Crazy". Produced by the L.A. Theatre Works, the show was performed at UCLA's James Bridges Theater in November 2017.

The Pulitzer Prize winner for drama in 2015, "Between Riverside and Crazy" is a story about a black, former NYC policeman on a disability pension, living in a rent-controlled apartment with his ex-felon son, his son's friend and girlfriend. Washington is a recent widower, facing eviction from his apartment, trying to help his son, and suing the City for a settlement after being wrongfully shot by a rookie white policeman. Despite these problems, he manages to find his way, all the while maintains his spirits and dignity, and brings humor to the situation, making for an enjoyable story.

Listened via the LA Theater Works production with John Cothran, Jr. performed for a lively audience.. rehashing the plot won't tell you much. Rather gain a new perspective on how it must be when everyone wants a piece of you and you can't trust anyone. This can happen to famous people, but also regular people unwittingly caught in the spotlight of public attention. It tests one's strength of character. Well done, many faceted and rewarding. ( )

A worthy Pulitzer Prize winning play about a retired policeman (on disability from bullets he took in a shootout). Living with him are his son, his son's girlfriend and his son's best friend all of whom call him pops. Pops has a long term suit against the city because he feels like he was shorted on his disability. Throw in two police officers who are romantically linked and a church lady with unusual ideas about how to improve pop's morale. You have all the elements of a wonderful topsy turvy play. ( )
