I am not familiar with this author's works however I do know that I love her style of writing. I would actually give it a 3 1/2.
"The affair" was so short and while I did enjoy it, I found it too short, I wanted more. The story itself was interesting, a couple is found dead and this novel introduces Charlotte, a journalist, who will be a main character in an upcoming novel by this author. The majority of this story is the reaction of the neighbours, and the revelation of some secrets that may or may not have anything to do with the couple's murders.
As I did like this author's style, I would like to read a longer novel by her, this one was too short, I felt like I had read several chapters in the middle of a book, I wanted more substance. ( )
