Greg and Ginny are living together, but Greg is becoming somewhat suspicious that he is not the only man in her life: little things like telephone calls that are cut off the moment he answers, a drawer full of boxes of chocolates, a pair of slippers that are certainly neither his nor hers. He wonders about Ginny's plan "to visit her parents" and decides to follow her. In actual fact he has sound grounds for his suspicions: Ginny is really going to see a considerable older lover, but only in order to break with him and retrieve some letters.
