Yes Extra book Details: Fifth book in The Ivy Years series(including 2.5). Part of a series with different H&h in each book, can be read as a Stand-Alone. Awesome secondary characters, some from previous books; some that will hopefully be the subject of future books. It's got some good things about it, but it is kind of like a worse version of the Veronica Mars seasons when she was in college (the high school seasons are so much better!). I appreciate the attempt, particularly the attempts at diversity and social justice, but I didn't love it, nor did I find it particularly impressive. Harkness men’s hockey team manager, Bella Hall, becomes a victim of a fraternity prank. Her soccer player neighbor, Rafe Santiago, helps her through the aftermath. Bella is a great character. She had a wonderful outlook on life and was free spirited. My heart went out to her after what happened at Beta Rho. No one should be treated the way she was. It was understandable how her ordeal made her feel and become antisocial. On a positive note, she developed two great friends as a result of her misfortune, Rafe and Lianne. When Bella becomes withdrawn, I love that Rafe and her hockey friends are persistent in getting her to go out and do not give up on her. If you were to look up perfect boyfriend in the dictionary, I’m pretty sure you would find Rafe. Heck, I’m fairly certain he would also be listed under perfect son. When he is available, the guy is always working in his mother’s restaurant. Not to mention quoting chick flicks throughout the novel, because he watches them with his mom. He is a great guy. He loves his family. He is an athlete. He works hard at everything he does. He is passionate and caring. He is a great friend/boyfriend for Bella. I cannot really find any faults in the guy. Sure there may have been a couple of misunderstandings, but he is human. The characters showed a lot of growth throughout the story. Especially Bella who had no idea what she wanted to do with her life after graduation and suffered greatly. The plot was realistic and meaningful. Unfortunately, things like this happen in the real world. Reading about Bella’s struggles was moving and inspirational. I appreciate that she takes a stand. She was very creative in her payback. Sarina Bowen is a gifted writer. The Shameless Hour is a book I could not put down. The story is full of emotion and obstacles. I can’t wait for Lianne’s story. She's not looking for a hero. He's not looking for a hookup. For Bella, the sweet-talking, free-loving, hip-checking student manager of the Harkness men's hockey team, sex is a second language. She's used to being fluent where others stutter, and the things people say behind her back don't (often) bother her. So, she can't understand why her smoking hot downstairs neighbor has so much trouble staying friends after their spontaneous night together. She knows better than to worry about it, but there's something in those espresso eyes that makes her second guess herself. Rafe is, appalled with himself for losing his virginity in a drunken hookup. His strict Catholic upbringing always emphasized loving thy neighbor, but not with a bottle of wine and a box of condoms. The result is an Ivy League bout of awkwardness. But when, Bella is leveled by a little bad luck and a downright nasty fraternity stunt, it's Rafe, who is there to pick up the pieces. Bella doesn't want Rafe's help, and she's through with men. Too bad the undeniable spark that crackles between the two of them just can't be extinguished. Não foram encontradas descrições de bibliotecas. |

The Shameless Hour was a story, I will be honest, I wasn't too excited for. Bella hasn't been my favorite character. I just don't relate to her character at all. And I will be honest in that this book wasn't my favorite from the series. Now I am picky about heroines that are very explorative when it comes to sexual experiences. Even in her vulnerable moments, I struggled with Bella and how she treats the hero. We have a virgin hero here and I really adored him so deeply. He has convictions and stands by them and Bella tended to demean those convictions at times and really put him down all the time. And while she realizes how wrong she is in the end, not much of a grovel, so she isn't fully redeemed and the heroine is the reason why the rating is so low. The conflict that we see in the story is interesting. It was more how the heroine reacted to it that rubbed me the wrong way. Hero was so steady and valiant. And while the ending was satisfying and delivered so happy feels, it wasn't quite as satisfying because the heroine just didn't become redeemed. This is basically a story of the heroine abusing the hero and it is shrugged off as okay because she is a feminist so his feelings and the emotional abuse don't matter. ( )
