The Trojan War gives a venue for O'Connor to explore the differences between the strategic thinking of Athena and the unbridled passion of Ares. Yet, as the author observes, the bloodthirsty Ares is the only god to mourn his mortal son. This is a highly engaging text that effectively introduces the powerful and violent Ares. Reluctant readers may find this text engaging because of the stimulating images and action packed plot. This text, while simple, stays true to Greek mythology, and can be used as an excellent source of information for students and teachers alike. This short comic tells of the Greek gods’ involvement on the Trojan War but, unlike Homer’s version, it has the gods, particularly Ares in this case, taking a more active part. The gods end up fighting among themselves but the Trojan War eventually plays out as Homer intended. Quite well-told, the comic also has reasonably good artwork. It is quite engaging and entertaining. Recommended for those who would like a different view of Greek mythology. I really like this series. I loved how the author picks and chooses different ways of expressing the various God's characters. I love that in this volume he tells us about Ares attributes through the framework of the Trojan War. It gives us more of the story from the previous volumes of the Trojan War and presents a different way of looking at the war, solely through the eyes of the Gods. I didn't expect to enjoy the Ares volume quite so much. I really like this series. I loved how the author picks and chooses different ways of expressing the various God's characters.
