In war, everyone loses... ?Reaper Lana Harvey is finding out the hard way. When Grim's new second in command, Jenni Fang, recruits her for a special mission, the biggest victory over the rebels is tainted by a crushing and immediate reprisal. The rebels have a new general working in the shadows of Limbo City, luring gods, reapers, demons, and souls to the dark side. The Afterlife Council's orders to locate the new rebel base are overshadowed by a desperate and mysterious plea from Grim to find the abducted Greek god of sleep, Hypnos. Where Lana and Jenni find one, they hope to find the other. But some discoveries have a way of bringing one to their knees. Não foram encontradas descrições de bibliotecas. |

Having not read the first of this series, I didn't know what to expect when I signed up for the tour. I really liked the sound of the blurb, and thought the book would soon fall into my list of enjoyable reads. I didn't expect to fall so hard for the book that I am looking at getting all the rest of the works by Angela Roquet. From the look of the ratings on her other books, I am not the only one who loves her works.
The story and plot are inventive, imaginative and the words find ways to weave themselves into your mind, leaving you craving for more. Before you realise, you have read the last page and are left hearing for more.
I love that the book has characters and major players from all religions, no matter how large or small. Plus, each character has a background, detail and personality akin to what I would have always expected from them, when I read books about each. The characters also stick to their role and personality, leading their lives as if they just like us - experiencing love, hate, fear, passion and turmoil.
The pace is exactly what is should be. There is enough action to keep you on the edge of your seat, but still enough down time to let you fall in love...or hate...with each character.
As some tip over the edge of sanity, we find ourselves wondering if we may have reached a crazed state as well, the details feeling so real. When loss is experienced, we nearly cry for the character, feeling as though we knew them ourselves. Ultimately, the world is so well written that Roquet has the reader believing they are part of the world. When the final cover closes, you are filled with sorrow and wanting to be back in your new world.
I personally cannot wait to see what happens next! ( )
