So my first thought it that this book is cute and I really like it, however, we are a more enlightened age. This book is all about being who you are born to be. You cant be someone/thing else because you were not born the way they were. And while my initial reaction is I like this book, my second thought is how would a trans kid feel reading this, and it makes me think this book is not so great. ( )

Fun and very interactive. It's all dialog, so it's best with 3 people. ( )

Throughout the book, the young frog doesn't want to be a frog. He wants to be a cat, a rabbit, a pig, or an owl because the frog is sick of being wet, slimy, and full of bugs. The dad frog constantly keeps telling the young frog that he can't be anything else, but the young frog doesn't listen; he just keeps wishing. When the frog explains his dilemma to a wolf, the wolf tells him to be happy he's a frog because the wolf loves eating cats, pigs, rabbits, and owls, but he would never eat a frog because they're too wet, slimy, and full of bugs.

I really liked how humorous this book was intended to be even with such an important message. This book shows children to find acceptance and happiness in being themselves. I think that's a really important message especially for younger children who are always trying to fit in and be like everyone else. I think the humor in this book will make kids enjoy it even more as well. ( )

I enjoyed reading this book because it is about a clever frog not wanting to be a slimy frog. Students could make connections to the frog because young children wish to be a lot of things. This book could be used to make inferences, understand speech bubbles, and personification. ( )

I enjoyed reading this book because of the big picture. This story’s big picture is to love yourself for who you are. It shows children that there is a reason you are you. It demonstrates how if you were someone else you would have problems too, but that should not make you want to change yourself. The book uses descriptive language to describe the different animals. The descriptive language like slimy, wet, curly help create imagery for the reader. It also demonstrated internal conflict. The frog did not like himself, so he wanted to change himself. He thought he was too wet and too slimy. The internal conflict of wanting to be something he was not was relatable for the reader. Many people want to change their hair, height, skin, and other physical features, but you cannot do that. This book shows how to overcome this common internal conflict by learning to love yourself.
