Lee is an extremely powerful witch dreamer, her ancestors formed a compact to keep New Orleans safe, but there is an evil in town determined to break the compact and bring evil into the world. This story moves very fast and while I liked the characters and the majority of the story I didn't feel the instant falling in love that happened. I definitely felt their love as the story progressed but the initial claims weren't believable. Aidan is a born vampire that moves to New Orleans after dreaming of his mate Lee and Alex is his best friend who is needed to help save the city.

I loved how the author handled the Triad, I just wish she'd slowed down the hyper speed of their relationship.

This story has a lot of erotic scenes but it also has a good story. It will be interesting to see where this series goes. While a good erotic scene can enhance a story there's a tipping point when it becomes a book of sex with a bit of filler story in between. I hope the author keeps the series more about the story.

I'm definitely seeing a pattern in these older Dane stories. I enjoy then for what they are, but think she's grown exponentially as a writer.

I like the overall story arc. The idea of witches, wizards and vampire is a bit silly to me but Dane made it work. I'm still bothered by the fast I Love You's though. ( )

General: This book actually started out a bit bumpy for me. I was immediately in love with it from the first few pages. It had witches and New Orleans and food, two out of three are some of my favorite things in this world. However my interest simmered quickly as Lee and Aidan bump into each other and announce their love for each other after a few minutes. Setting the book aside to read a new release I had been waiting on I went back to this and am so glad I did!

This book is the first in a series involving witches, werewolves, demons and who knows what else will come. Lee comes from a long line of witches- all with certain powers that set them apart from others, makes them stronger. She is a witch dreamer and believes in the power of her dreams. So when she meets Aidan, the man from her dreams, they connect immediately. For me it felt rushed and forced at first. As the novel progressed and the two fight the demon who is after Lee and her family and their territory of New Orleans the bond between them becomes wonderful, very believable despite my initial reaction.

The plot weaves its way through the pages giving you tidbits of information here and there as you learn more about the world of witches and vampires. Lee and Aidan are missing one piece to the puzzle, a man that Lee has dreamed of and who has dreamed of Lee, Alex. With the introduction of Alex I believe the book leapt to life for me. Alex was a witch and the third of the triangle as power is stronger in three’s. Aidan and Lee must accept Alex as a romantic counterpart (though Lee doesn’t have too much trouble!) in order to take down the demon. What I really liked about the addition of Alex was reading this threesome grow into just that and all the problems from family to emotions to alone time that they had to figure out.

Overall this book captivated me from the minute I picked it back up. However I am reluctant to give it the 5 stars I am twitchy to do so because of how empty the beginning of the book felt to me and how much of the middle of the book was consumed by sex, sex and sex! I couldn’t put the book down with all it’s steamy sex scenes but I also found it a bit tiring to trudge through so many while wanting to see what becomes of the demon and the outside acceptance of Lee, Alex and Aidan.

Characters: Lee- Lee is a witch dreamer and a fantastic character. Her voice isn’t as developed as some because there is little interaction with other females except for a few brief scenes with family. She is a very confident woman, which would come from her strength in magic. Her love for her family, her confusion and sexual desire ring out on every single page. At no point did I question the threesome in this novel because of how perfectly Lee fit with the men. Strong and bold with Alex and timid and loving with Aidan, the group was a perfect fit with her at it’s center to push them when they needed it.

Aidan: Aidan’s character reminded me of a white knight. He comes in and wisks Lee off her feet. All the while proving to be the perfect bedmate, moral vampire and fierce protector. His emotions when Alex entered the scene were so believable and spot on as he accepted his best friend into his wife’s bed. I do wish there would have been a little more story telling with his role. It seemed to be a giant rush in one or two paragraphs near the end and I think delving a little deeper right away might have made me less hesitant to accept his immediate love for Lee.

Alex: For me Alex was the perfect character. He was introduced more than half way through the novel but I feel he was the strongest. He is headstrong, kind and a sexual dominant. Finding his place amongst the other two and hearing his family’s back story almost had me routing for him over Aidan when I thought Lee would have to pick. Alex is “planner” of the group- intelligent and inquisitive he was a wonderful character and had a family that I would have loved to smack! ( )

My first erotica read. I found this book while I was searching the kindle store at amazon a few weeks ago; In there, I organize the entries based on the book’s prices and always begin with the lowest price ($o.oo) first. This book was free and even though it was originally published in 2005 the description hooked me right away.
The book in incredibly steamy and the plot is very engaging. However, I have a few problems with the book. As a disclaimer let me say that, not only is this my first erotica read it is also the first book that I read by Lauren Dane.

Here is my own summarize of the book’s plot, spoiler free:

Lee is the strongest witch her family has seen in generations, with her power of dream walking her job, along with the rest of her family, is to protect the people of New Orleans. Lee has been dreaming with a mysterious guy for the past two months, she doesn’t know the guys but feels an inexplicable connection to him. When she finally meets him a series of events threaten to break her, her family and the peace in New Orleans apart while a new series of dreams about another man threatens her relationship with her dream man. Can Lee be strong enough to face this new evil that is on the mists and is she capable of loving one man and lusting for another?

Now, what I liked about the book is its story and its characters, they are both very well written and interesting. What I don’t like is that the action takes place way too quickly.


In the book Lee (a witch) is walking down the street and bumps into Aidan (a vampire), whom she’s been dreaming about for the past several weeks, she feels and inexplicable connection to him and bam! is in bed with him that same night and getting married to him by vampire tradition, all in the spam of one day. Her family is shocked but extremely open to the concept of their daughter getting married to a complete stranger; the only one who argues about the situation is her father but he quickly gives up. Aidan’s family is no different, they seem to welcome her big arms extended, no questions ask. Because there is an evil wizard trying to corrupt Lee’s magic in order to get to her Aidan calls his best friend, Alex, into town (a wizard of light) to help protect his wife. However, Lee has begun to dream about Alex too and the moment she meets him sparks fly.

I will not spoil more surprises from the book because I already have said enough and with the title and the book’s cover I’m pretty sure you can imagine some of what is coming. I will say that the plot, although crazily fast, sort of works for the characters.

Bottom line is, I like it but I didn’t love it; I will however read the next installment in the series.
