I nice little mystery where everything is not what it seems. There seems to be a lack of parental involvement as our heroes try to find out exactly what the new neighbors are doing under the large tarp to their old tree. As time passes, the children get more and more daring, doing riskier and riskier things (including breaking & entering and trespassing) to learn more. The night before Thanksgiving, they risk an encounter with the big dog in the newly fenced in yard, and get caught! The outcome is alot nicer than they could have hoped for. A good early grades reader. ( )

Nice young reader's chapter book. The twins in the story have a fun adventure learning about the new neighbors and their big new fence and what lies beyond. I particularly liked the ending where the fence is cut down and everybody gets together for Thanksgiving dinner. ( )

November is for night.... Twins, Bradley and Brian have new neighbors who have moved in next door. The older couple have a big dog, built a tall fence, and they are building something strange in their backyard. The boys want to know what it is. Along with their friends Nate and Lucy they come up with several plans to try to figure out what the new neighbors are up to. This is a fun adventurous early chapter book, that many children will enjoy reading. The story takes place just before Thanksgiving, so this is a good option for fall reading. Book is for ages 6-9.

This book has a good storyline that has enough action to hold the interest of younger readers, but it is still readable. There is a lot of dialog in the book, which does slow the text down a bit at times. Younger readers will most likely need to read this in multiple sittings. I like the ending of the book, where the family get together to play a joke on the spying boys. It is a fun ending to the book. ( )
