After surviving a disastrous battle at prom, Alyssa has embraced her madness and gained perspective. She's determined to rescue her two worlds and the people and netherlings she loves. Even if it means challenging Queen Red to a final battle of wills and wiles . . . and even if the only way to Wonderland, now that the rabbit hole is closed, is through the looking-glass world??a parallel dimension filled with mutated and violent netherling outcasts.

In the final installment of the wildly popular Splintered trilogy, Alyssa and her dad journey into the heart of magic and mayhem in search of her mom and to set right all that's gone wrong. Together with Jeb and Morpheus, they must salvage Wonderland from the decay and destruction that has ensnared it. But if they succeed and come out alive, can everyone truly have their happily ever after?… (mais)

Many, many moons ago I read the first two books in this series and LOVED them. Then, this final book came out and I bought it immediately but... I didn't want the series to end. I stared at this book for seven long years and I finally gave in. I needed to read this incredible Alice in Wonderland take and I needed to finish this series - A.G. Howard is just so good, how could I not let myself finish this series?

While it was kind of hard not remembering everything that happened in the last two books (seven years is a LONG time...), this book was magical and everything I had hoped it would be... and more! I adored this book and sincerely need to keep diving back into fun, YA adaptions of classics. Especially more by A.G. Howard.

Alyssa is going mad, and she's embracing it. How can you not when you are determined to save your Mom, Dad, Mad Hatter friend who seems to be madly in love with you, and your best friend/kind of ex-boyfriend who you kind of got in massive trouble? It's a lot to put on a teen, but Alyssa is tough. Throw in the wicked Queen Red, a closed of rabbit hole, mutated creatures, and a whole lot of "wrong" going on, and you've got one incredible adventure in this finale.

This book is FUN. That's what I really liked out of it. It's a magical and fun book that also added in a dash of romance. I liked the ending - it made me smile. I do wish I had gone back and read the first two books to be able to give a fully honest review, but this one I let myself read for enjoyment rather than for criticism. I'm sure there's lots of odds and ends that stick out in this book, but for pure enjoyment level? Super high for me! I had a great time escaping into this book.

Overall - it's a lovely YA book if you want to escape into Wonderland (all of the weird and delightful worlds of Wonderland).

Four out of five stars. ( )

This is the last book in the Splintered trilogy. I read it immediately after finishing the second book and thought the action would pick right back up. It did not. This one was a very slow start and I had problems getting myself to open this one. Once Morpheus and Jeb returned to the storyline, the plot got more action-packed and story-driven but it still kind of seemed to drag on in places (I did finish the last 100 or so pages in one day, so it got much better towards the end). How A.G. Howard comes up with all of these things is beyond me, so kudos to the writing and imagination there. The storylines and subplots were tied up nicely at the end, I don't think there were any loose ends left over. There was more character development and backstory given on some of the characters, there was growth for some too.

All in all, a decent read. It's not my favorite one of the series but ties everything up nicely in a way that I didn't see coming. If you've read the other two, you definitely want to finish the trilogy. I've never really been one for the Alice in Wonderland story but this kind of punk, weird retelling was interesting. ( )

Oh My God. It's 3:15 in the morning and I can't wrap my brain around everything that just happened. THE FEELS ARE EEAL RIGHT NOW. My poor fangirl heart stopped at least five times while reading Ensnared. Also, that ending! I had a feeling AG Howard was going to pull a Cassandra Clare, like in the Infernal Devices trilogy on me. I SHOULD HAVE KNOWN. ( )

Finales.

This was a DNF. I tried. I tried again. I googled the plot and after reading about the ending, I tried to continue with that knowledge floating about in my thinkpan, but I just can't anymore. The world was wonderful and that first book was amazing, so it kind of bums me out that I had to give up like this. ( )
