Liv and Jack are reunited when they work together on preparations for the Old Timers' Baseball Game which is part of their hometown of Jasper Gulch's centennial celebration. They find that the old feelings they had for each other never went away. Very enjoyable second-chance romance between former sweethearts. Liv and Jack were extremely likable characters and I loved the small-town setting of Jasper Gulch. Also enjoyed Liv's new friend, Robin, and I want to read her story now. There are some continuing storylines in this one that don't wrap up by the end, though. ( )

Olivia Franklin returns to Jasper Gulch after eight years to put together a biographical history of the town for the centennial a changed person. She doesn’t have a job and her husband divorced her and she is back living with her parents. Also, she finds out that her grandparents (that she hasn’t bothered to visit in many years) will have to move in with her parents because of her grandfather’s Alzheimer’s.

Jack McGuire played baseball until receiving a career-ending injury causing him to make some bad decisions. He dumped Olivia, takes a job in the city but finally realizes he didn’t like the job or the city. When his mother becomes ill he finally comes home to help care for and stays after her death, but becomes almost a hermit. He is shamed into helping put together a centennial league baseball game. Jack gets Olivia to work with him finalize plans for the game. As they work together they renew their friendship, deal with the past begin to fall in love again, but not without some problems. Throw in the continuing mystery and the adoption of an abused horse this book makes this story an interesting read.

I had a hard time getting into this book, but in the end it was an enjoyable story. I’m glad I stuck with it.
