In this one, Lola is convinced that she wants it to snow everyday. Her big brother, charlie, convinces her why everything is good in moderation and that we don't want snow everyday or it wouldn't be special. The author uses descriptive language heavily throughout the book. I think this mimics the way children talk as they are learning how to describe the world around them. This book would be a great model to help encourage students to use descriptive words in their writing. ( ) This is such an adorable book to read to children! I love Lauren Child and her books; this one is about Charlie and Lola and Lola learning about what makes something special. Lola could not wait for it snow so she could go outside and play in it. It finally snows and Lola has a blast playing in the snow with her brother and her friends. She is devastated when she finds out that the snow has melted the next day and she cannot go back outside and play in the snow. She tells Charlie that she wishes it could snow every day! Charlie then explains to Lola that if it snowed every single day, then snow would not be special anymore. Lola does not understand this at first, until Charlie further explains what he means. I love that her older brother is helping her to understand that not having snow everyday is what makes it special when it finally does snow. Charlie uses examples to help Lola understand and in the end she understands that not having snow everyday is really what makes it special when it does snow. I also love how Lauren Child emphasizes some words like “Wheeeeeeee.” This is a cute book and something that I would read to my future class one day. Lola loves snow so much she just wants it all the time! After having snow to play in for a little while, she is super upset when she realizes it is not a permanent thing. Luckily, her brother Charlie comes to the rescue. The way Phyllis Root placed her text and twirled the words around like an infinity sign on some pages, and the way the illustrations were drawn, I think it helped us understand how much Lola wanted snow to last forever! I related to this book a lot because living in the south I don't get to see much snow at all. Therefore, just like Lola, when I do get to see snow, I want it to last forever. Snow is Lola's favorite and her best! She is so excited for the snow to come but not very happy to see the snow leave. Charlie tells Lola that if it snowed all the time it would not be as special. He uses the example of celebrating a birthday every day but Lola sees nothing wrong with celebrating her birthday every day! Charlie takes Lola on an adventure to the Arctic and Antarctica where it does snow every day. Lola soon realizes that having snow every day would be a bit chilly. This book leaves you wanting more of adventures with Lola and Charlie! sem resenhas | adicionar uma resenha
