I had never heard of this book before and I was able to predict was the book was about by looking at the cover. This book was really cute and really short. The books main character was really believable. I really thought I was reading about a young boy named Ben who was getting a cat for the first time. Ben loses his cat after first getting Sooty and I really believed that this could have happened. The writing was done really well. This book was made for beginning readers. It was very easy and quick to read. The illustrations did more of the story telling than the actual words did. However the illustrations went really well with the book. They were not super fancy but done well enough to where I knew what the story was about. The plot was not very exciting at all, but was done very well, there was only one climax in the story in which Ben loses Sooty. I would recommend this book to others. I liked the book because the message was very clear, even for younger readers to understand, taking care of something requires responsibility. ( )
