"It looks like the high point of Samantha's spring vacation is going to be a glimpse of a cute boy she sees at The Haunted Museum in England. She and her sister, Jessica, and their parents are taking a cruise on the Titanic 2, a replica of the original Titanic, and there's not even wifi! At least the Titanic exhibit at the Haunted Museum had wax figures and beautiful jewels to look at. But from their first day, Samantha and Jessica notice strange things happening. Their cabin number keeps changing. There are creepy scratching sounds coming from between the walls. And a locket that Jess opened at the museum seems to be . . . following them. Is the locket haunted? Or could it be the ship itself? Are there actors in costume walking about the ship . . .or could they be ghosts? Why is Sam's sister calling her by another name? Samantha will have to unravel the threads tying her and her sister to the past, or they could go down with the ship!"--P. [4] of cover.… (mais)

Samantha visits the Haunted Museum in England during her spring vacation and encounters several mysteries during a cruise on the "Titanic 2." Book #1

I bought book one of the Haunted Museum series, The Titanic Locket, because I'm interested in the Titanic and ghosts.
I suspect that the introduction, by Belladonna Bloodstone, founder and head curator of the museum, will be a standard feature in these books.

Visitors can't claim they weren't warned not to touch any of the exhibits. If they don't notice the lighted sign, there's a woman guard to tell them. You really can't blame our main character, 12-year-old Samantha Burnett, for what follows. It was her 13½-year-old sister, Jessica, who opened the locket. Samantha just closed it. That was enough to get the haunting started for them, as well as John Teller, a cute older boy who catches their eye (and is as foolish as Jessica).

The Burnett sisters and their parents are going to take a cruise aboard the Titanic 2, a replica of that ill-fated liner. Are their parents crazy? Will history repeat itself?

Strange things keep happening, such as their cabin's number changing from '266' to '299'. Samantha keeps hearing sounds coming from one of their walls. Will there be ghosts? You bet! Will they be dangerous? Oh, yes! They're so dangerous that the sisters need the help of psychic Madame Valenska to survive.

I enjoyed the descriptions of the replica ship and the scenes from the past. There is a logical reason (by the logic of hauntings, anyway) for what's going on. The climax is reasonably chilling. The book is aimed at 4th - 6th graders, but this 61-year-old enjoyed it. ( )

WELCOME. You have arrived at the Haunted Museum. (introduction)
I CAN'T BELIEVE we just arrived in England and we're leaving already,' twelve-year-old Samantha Burnett grumbled as she and her sister, Jessica, only eighteen months older, wandered the darkened halls of the Haunted Museum. (chapter 1)

Samantha had never been in a Haunted Museum before. But so far her impression was that it was a sort of cross between Madame Tussauds wax museum, Ripley's Believe It or Not!, and The Haunted Mansion at Disney [World]. (chapter 1)
