My Control (Inside Out #4.1) by Lisa Renee Jones, is a continuation of the search for Rebecca. Much of the info in this novella was laid out before the reader in No in Between (Inside Out #4). What this novella brings to the story, is Mark’s emotional state, his guilt, remorse, and acknowledgement that he loved Rebecca, but never told her. The novella also explores how Crystal’s connection to Mark is developing into more than just a business association. As Mark's world crumbles from the stress of his mother’s illness, the sale of Allure, the sale of his club and Rebecca’s disappearance, he finds himself leaning heavily on Crystal. Feeling like he’s going to bring harm to Crystal, just like he did Rebecca, he tries to drive her away by being “Mr. cranky uber dom”, but when Crystal won’t fall for his game, and news that Ava has escaped surfaces, Mark puts her on a plane to get her safely out of the area. It's then that he realizes Crystal may mean more to him then he wants.

The novella is short, filled with drama, emotion and the view of the story from both Mark and Crystal’s POV. The characters are limited (Mark, Crystal, Ryan, Blake, & Tiger), no real new info on Rebecca is provided, but the novella provides a look into “the a man” whose lost all control of his surrounding’s, and doesn't know what to do or how to act.

For me a 2.75-3.0 star read just because no new info has been provided, and I could have waited for Marks emotional story in the forth coming book I Belong to You (Inside Out #5)

Totally unrelated to the actual book - I played as a child on Muir Beach in the late 1950's, 60's and 70's and have very fond memories of the beach and the area.

I loved seeing more of Mark Compton. The next book in this great series is supposed to be the end, From reading short novella's and full books with maddening cliffhangers I can't wait for the exciting conclusion to this great story.
This one did go deeper into Mark an Crystal's strange relationship and I was left craving for more at the end. We're nearly finished thank goodness. ( )
