( ![]() This book would be great as an interactive read aloud for a second-grade class. They would enjoy the parallel to goldilocks and the three bears. As an interactive read aloud you could compare and contrast the two stories while you read. Recounting folk tales from other cultures is a second grade literature standard. This story has one main character, a little girl named Goldy Luck. When she goes over to the Chan's house to bring them a plate of turnip cakes, she ends up destroying some of the Chan's property. The central message of this story is that even if you make a big mistake, you can take the necessary steps to correct it. Goldy Luck ate Little Chan's congee, broke his rocking chair, and slept in his bed. To fix what she has done wrong, Goldy Lucky offers Little Chan her own congee, attempts to fix the rocking chair, and says she is going to remake the bed. The Chans respond to Goldy Luck's kindness by offering her a red envelope, which will bring her very good luck. The is a Chinese American retelling of "Goldilocks and the Three Bears". Goldy Luck imposes upon a panda family. It's a story of friendship, responsibility, and a recipe of turnip cakes just in time for the Chinese New Year. The main character, Goldy Luck, is a young Chinese girl who goes to visit her friends (a family of three pandas) on Chinese New Year to bring them homemade turnip cakes. She arrives at the apartment of Mr. Chan, Mrs. Chan, and Little Chan, but they are not home. Goldy goes inside anyway, and drops her plate of turnip cakes all over the floor. She proceeds to taste test three bowls of congee in the kitchen, eating Little Chan’s ‘just right’ bowl. Then Goldy tries out three different chairs and finally settles into Little Chan’s rocking chair, which breaks. Looking for a place to lie down, Goldy goes to the bedroom and falls asleep on Little Chan’s futon. When the Chans return, they discover the mess of congee, the broken chair, and finally Goldy Luck, who then runs away. The book takes a turn when Goldy feels guilty for all of the trouble she caused the Chans. She decides to go back to the Chan’s apartment to apologize, she helps them make new turnip cakes, and they all have a great feast together to end the story. sem resenhas | adicionar uma resenha
In this Chinese American retelling of "Goldilocks and the Three Bears," a careless Goldy Luck wreaks havoc on the home of a family of panda bears. She eats up the littlest panda's rice porridge, breaks his rocking chair, and rumples all the blankets on his futon. When Goldy takes responsibility for her actions, she makes a new friend (and a whole plate of turnip cakes!) just in time for Chinese New Year. Não foram encontradas descrições de bibliotecas. |
