Chronicling a Saturday trip to the big city for some shopping through acrylic illustrations, Maryann Cocca-Leffler's "Bus Route to Boston" is an friendly and relatively quick trip through Beantown. Stopping at local favorites such as Filene's Basement and riding the regularly available T bus definitely adds realistic elements to the story. Artistically, the illustrations enhance the story by supplying additional antics not discussed in the text. Having personally been to every stop along the characters' way, I was a little excited to revisit the sights of downtown Boston and North End. ( )

Living on the bus route has it's benefits for the young sibling girls in this story. Sometimes the two girls take free rides with Bill, the bus driver and they would sing and beep the horn. On Saturdays the girls and their mother would ride into Boston on the bus. They would shop for the best bargains in clothes, fruits, and vegetables. When returning home, Bill would help them unload their purchases from the bus and the girls would always give Bill a cannoli from the bakery. ( )

This book tells of the bus trips a girl took to Boston. She would go with her mother and sister for different things. One day they went to a clothing store, a vegetable and fruit market, a bakery, a butcher, then took the bus ride home. THey al love the bus and their favorite bus driver Bill. ( )
