Great last book in the trilogy. I loved this. ( )

So I am a cynic, sue me!

This book is the last in a three book series that started as a youth sci fi adventure and ended as a romance novel. I didn't enjoy that transformation. I sure there are people that do but I am not on of them.

This book, like the two preceding ones, are told from an "I" perspective, switching between June and Day. It works well, but unfortunately gives a lot of room for self pity. Not going to spend more time on this review. If you want to know something else, read another review or message me. ( )

I don't know why, but there's something about this book that I just don't connect to. Maybe it's the world, maybe it's the plot, the way it's written or other details. I don't know, but at least I love the characters. I like that June and Day are two (similiar) independent persons, even if they're mixed up in all this war/power/love stuff. I have to admit I cried a little at the end. Right after writing about wanting it to be done already I shed a few tears. THAT ENDING! I won't say that I didn't see it coming, so the big "suprise" didn't really work out for me. The little things on the other hand. The moment when June stood by her brother's grave telling him about everything that had happened. Oh well, let's say I had to keep my crying as soundless as possible to not wake up the whole house. There's just something about all this action going on and both you or the characters don't really have time to think about what's happening, but when everything slows down and go back to normal you see their struggle.

I liked the epilogue, it was wonderful and heart-breaking. However... the last page was horrible. Just kidding, it was kind of cute. But the writing? It got too sugar-sweet throwing words like love and always around itself. I could almost see them take over the whole page, trying to eat their way into my brain. With an ending like that there should've been another book.

And that's a weird opinion for me to have, right? After being very done with this series since halfway in book two? Let's just say that the last part of the book, the ending was worth it. If you like dystopias and action, you'll love this book. As I see a lot already have. For me, this book confirms that I'm done with dystopias for a while, they're too packed where it matters, not always giving things time to breath. I ended up skimming action scenes, which was a weird experience... A good ending, but not for me. ( )

This!! Book!!! Oh. My. Gosh. I am still so emotionally damaged from this!
I was such a mess when I finished this book... I was sobbing so hard I had to pause my audiobook. because I couldn't hear it. I'm not even kidding. This book was PAINFUL!

As much as I was a blubbering mess, I actually did quite like the ending. It was sad, yes. It was really, REALLY sad, but it also felt right. It was a bit more open than I would have liked though... I don't need my ending all tied up neatly, but it left some pretty big things open, and I just would have liked a *little* bit more closure there.

I went into this book really feeling like it was either going to make or break the series for me, and I was very glad that I ended up loving it.

It was really nice to be back with these characters. I love June and Day. They're such well developed, amazing characters. Not to mention the smaller characters like Eden, and of course Tess. And some of the other patriots, whose names I'm currently blanking on. I love them all. Marie Lu has characters down really well. All of them are so complex, even if I didn't necessarily like all the characters *Cough cough Anden! Cough*, they were well developed, and I enjoyed reading about them.

Overall, I really enjoyed Champion. I thought it wrapped up the series well, and left me feeling fairly satisfied. And emotionally destroyed. But satisfied. ( )
