-I gave Roll Of Thunder, Hear My Cry five stars because I absolutely loved this book without a doubt.
-I love this book. I think its a great story that has a lot of underlying morals and lessons that can be taught to children about that time. It can teach children how to be a good friend and how to empower each other in such a unjust world. It also teaches children that just because you are classified in a certain group does not mean you have to act a certain way. I absolutely love the storyline and I recommend Roll Of Thunder, Hear My Cry to all children.
-I think this book can be applied to the classroom when teaching a lesson on the Jim Crow laws or a lesson on racism.

This book is about a family living in Mississippi in the 1930s. The Logans are the only family who own land and their possession of that land is threatened. Cassie is the protagonist of the story, and she goes encounters some very adult themes during the story. She is humiliated multiple times, but she learns to stand up for herself and she learns how important her family is to her as the safety of her family is threatened. it is a very moving book. Life as they know it will change for the logans. But will it be for better or for worse?

Roll of Thunder: Hear my Cry was a decent book but since I was forced to read it, I didn't have much choice. It was definitely not a book I would've picked out my self, but it wasn't all bad. I didn't exactly enjoy reading it but I did learn a couple things from it. Some things like I should be thankful for what I have because there are others that do not have as much as I do. Also, that not everything in this world is always there to just take as we please. There are many things in this world that we need to work for in order to get or accomplish. it was very depressing. Roll of Thunder, Hear My Cry is about an African American that has to protect their family and their farm. They go through lots of hardships and have to learn many things. Cassie, the main character, learns about the night men and racism. Cassie and her brothers learn that when they do bad things their parents have to pay for it. The family has to protect themselves and learn to be happy with what they have. In the end things turn out well and they still might have problems, but they know that they will figure out how to make it through the problems.
I enjoyed this book and thought that it showed a lot about what times were like for African American people during the 1930's. This book was very interesting and educational. I would love to find another book like this.

This novel was one of the best. The setting of this story is in the 1930’s and in Mississippi during the Great depression. It all starts out when the Logan children, Stacey Cassie, Christopher-John, and Little Man are going to school when the school bus, only meant for white people are nearly run of the road. Then T.J. has this plan to put the Jefferson Davis school bus out of commission for a while, they dig a hole in the road and when it came it crashed into the ditch and crashed, and broke an axle. Next T.J. starts to become this bad boy “I’m too cool for school” that started with him hanging out with R.W. and Melvin Simms. They act all nice to T.J. but when he isn’t around, they make fun of him behind his back. Then Uncle Hammer comes and stays with them for a long time. Then one night it was very stormy and T.J comes all hurt and coughing up blood. Turns out that R.W., Melvin and T.J were involved in a robbery where they were trying to steal a pearl handed pistol and the money box at the Barnett general store, then they beat him up to keep him silent. So the Logan children take T.J. back to his home, but just as they were getting the night men came to collect T.J. The Logan children except Stacey went back to get papa and Mr. Morrison. The two of them start a fire in the cotton field to get the whites away from T.J. They work together to put out the fire, they eventually did. For T.J. though he doesn’t have a good fate, he is sentenced to death. That is the end for this glorious book.
